This is the personal website of Paul McDonald.
The purpose of this website is to host content that I wish to share with the general Internet. It contains items generated from my hobbies. It includes things such as various engineering projects I have developed.
Who Am I?

I am a telecommunications engineer in the UK. I have, for many years, been working on the design of mobile telecommunications systems, developing features primarily for the radio access portion and the links between the components. In recent years I have principally been working on small cell solutions and remote radio heads.
In my private life I have a number of interests that include:
- Hillwalking.
- Photography.
- Cycling.
- Electronics projects including 3D printing.
- Trying to learn to speak Chinese.

Why Mera?
Mera Peak is an Himalayan trekking peak located in eastern Nepal. It has a height of 6476m (21247 ft) and provides superb views of its grander neighbouring peaks: Makalu, Lohtse and Everest.
I climbed this peak in 1997 as part of a trekking holiday group. It marked the end of my attempts at high altitude mountaineering, and I have since contented myself with the more modest summits of the Scottish hills.
When seeking a domain name for my website, I found mera.co.uk was available, and thus adopted it as it is easy to remember and has that special significance for me.
